A spermiogram, i.e. a quality analysis of the male sperm cells, is the most important fertility test in men. The following parameters are evaluated:
- Volume: the volume of the sample should be min. 1.5 milliliters should include
- Density: the number of sperm cells per milliliter, which should be at least 10 million per milliliter
- Motility: the sperm cells are good and mobile quickly
- Morphology: are the sperm cells normally shaped or are there more abnormalities
The sample delivery of the ejaculate can take place directly in our fertility clinic. A discreet, quiet room is available for this purpose. The evaluation takes place directly in the clinic. In general, it is also possible to collect the sample in a private setting, i.e. at home, but it should arrive no later than 30 minutes after submission so that the quality is not reduced.
No sexual intercourse should take place for 2 to 5 days before the sample is given (waiting period). If medication is taken regularly, the attending physician must also be informed before dispensing.
Since semen quality can vary significantly in normally healthy men, it is necessary to carry out a new delivery and analysis of ejaculation about 2 to 3 months after the first examination.
