Artificial Insemination Procedure

If one of the classic indications for IVF artificial insemination in Graz/ICSI treatment is present (as defined according to the IVF Fund Act) or Since all the measures already defined (OI + TI, OI + IUI) have been applied without success, it is time to apply the most successful of all techniques in reproductive medicine –In vitro fertilization (IVF) Graz / ICSI (In-vitroFertilisation or i ntracytoplasmic spermiainjection).

The first step is controlled ovarian hyperstimulation. In order to stimulate the simultaneous growth of several follicles, hormonal preparations (FSH, FSH/LH or their derivatives, usually in the form of subcutaneous injections, i.e. injections under the skin) are administered daily for 7-12 days (10 days on average).

The second step is to prevent premature spontaneous ovulation by administering additional hormonal medications.

The third step is a controlled initiation of ovulation.

The fourth step is egg retrieval (follicular puncture). It is a short vaginal procedure under ultrasound guidance and short intravenous anesthesia. After the procedure, we prescribe medication to support implantation, usually in the form of vaginal capsules.

The fifth step is fertilization in our laboratory. In classic IVF (IVF), eggs and sperm cells are placed together in a vessel and you wait for them to unite themselves. In Intra-C ytoplasmic sperminjection (ICSI), a selected sperm is injected directly into the egg using a special laboratory device.

The sixth step is the development of the embryo

The seventh step is the transfer of one embryo (rarely two) directly into the uterine cavity. On the same day, all surplus, high-quality embryos are frozen.

The eighth step is to confirm implantation via urine and blood pregnancy tests.

The ninth and final step is now to confirm the viability of the pregnancy through a vaginal ultrasound. This is the official end of your fertility treatment.
